Creating a sustainable society for the future is the greatest challenge facing us today. Nuclear technology is once again a subject of interest in this quest. This is something we notice every day at the Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG) in Petten and Arnhem. Governments and businesses are more frequently requesting our products and internationally recognised expertise.
More than 375 NRG employees work each day on applications that ensure a safe and permanent energy supply, a cleaner environment and improved health conditions. This varies from developing innovative fissionable material to correctly dealing with radiation and radioactive waste. We are also forerunners in the field when it comes to safety in nuclear power stations and the production of raw materials for medicines. For example, NRG is the largest supplier of radioisotopes for the European medical sector.
The productgroup Nuclear Research and consultancy Group (NRG) provides high-quality knowledge, consultancy and service for the ongoing improvement of the design and safety of nuclear power plants. This applies both to the nuclear plants that are already in operation in order to support their safe, reliable and long term performance, and to the development of a new generation of nuclear reactors (Generation IV) and future fusion plants.
The Materials Team employs professionals with various background and has a strong team spirit. The covered research areas are structural materials (steels, Ni-base alloys), structural ceramics (composites, graphites), and functional materials (refractory alloys, copper alloys). Our technicians have a similar palette of experience. They perform tests and design test set-ups for the hot cells equipped with tele-manipulators for remote handling of radioactive materials.
